Kent is approved by the Nevada Real Estate Division to teach Continuing Education Classes.

The Nevada Real Estate Division has certified Kent as a Master Inspector of Structures (IOS.2755-Master). The Division has also approved Kent’s Continuing Education Courses on Building Codes and Inspection Regulations. Kent is President of the Nevada Association of Certified Real Estate Inspectors and coordinates continuing education classes for that valuable trade association and the multistate Spring Conference held in Reno each year. Kent has over 35 years of experience as a licensed general building contractor in Oregon, California and Nevada (#22847).

Kent is a Vietnam era Veteran. He was issued a Top-Secret Security Clearance for duties in the White House, Pentagon and U.S. Capital while he was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. The United States Coast Guard awarded Mr. Sweet a medal for commanding a motor life boat in the night time rescue, during stormy seas, of two civilians trapped in the cabin of a capsized motor vessel off the coast of Puerto Rico. Mr. Sweet learned to fly at Roosevelt Roads Naval Station. After receiving his honorable discharge, Kent returned to college and graduated from the University of Oregon. He started his construction company while a student in Eugene. Operations were expanded to Nevada in the 1980s. Kent poured the first foundation on the newly approved Caughlin Ranch residential community in Reno. Kent served on the Caughlin Ranch and other community Architectural Control Committees. Mr. Sweet was a member of the blue ribbon citizen advisory panel that orchestrated the Reno Building Department’s move from the general fund, where the department had been running a deficit, to an enterprise fund where the departments were soon running a surplus. In the late 80’s his construction company built a residential estate in California’s Wine Country that included construction of a Cal-Trans and FAA approved airport. By the mid-90’s his company was hired to improve the aviation fuel system at the Ely, NV Airport. The airport work caught the attention of major oil companies which led to a new focus on aviation fuel systems. Kent is a licensed commercial pilot and continues to fly his plane for work and pleasure. Kent founded his inspection company in 2013 as a means of continuing his lifelong interest in construction. His wife, Laurie, manages the office operations.

In addition to flying his airplane, Kent enjoys participating in team trail runs and sprint triathlons.
